Lisbon

The Baixa (lower town) is still the commercial center of Lisbon, housing banks, offices and shops. It's geometric layout streches from the riverfront to the main avenue Avenida da Liberdade with street named according to the shopkeepers and craftsmen who traded in the area.

In the Baixa district you can't overlook the triumphal arc, which connect Praça do Comércio with the famous Rua Augusta .

A walk through the typical narrow streets may unexpectedly lead you straight in front of the Neo-classical parliament building called Palácio de São Bento.

You can get a wonderful view of the Baixa with the Caste above and the river Tejo behind from the Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara (lookout point).

Tired of the center just jump on the tram, bus, metro, boat or train and see other nearby places as Belem or Costa da Caparica. Come back and at night take a walk to Bairro Alto.
